These beautiful beaded purses, handbags, and evening clutch bags are all handcrafted by hand by villagers from the little Balinese village of Penestanan. It is located just west of Ubud which is in the central part of Bali and is considered the 'Cultural Center' of Bali. Penestanan is known as the 'Village of Young Artists'. The painting style is very unique and dates back to the 1930's when Dutch painters such as Walter Spies, Rudolf Bonnet, Hans Snell, Colin McPhee, and Antonio Blanco arrived in Bali and started having a profound effect on the native painters of that day.
